Mansfield District Corps of Drums

Formed in 2012 with the aim of providing the community with a marching band for civic and ceremonial events. Today, the Corps has more than tripled in size, and gained a prestigious reputation both locally and nationally. The Corps is made up of men and women, young and old, who have a talent in performing traditional military music. We teach musical skills and disciplines to adults and children with the desire to learn and become part of a close-knit team. We have a strong membership from the disadvantaged in our community and provide opportunities for those with Special Educational Needs. We perform at a vast range of civic and ceremonial events, both locally and nationally. Including, Mansfield Woodhouse and Pleasley Vale’s Remembrance Parades, national commemorations, displays, and military parades. We also annually parade at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. We also are regularly asked to lead parades for both The Mercian Regiment and RAF Cranwell. This most recently has included leading the Mercian Regiment Freedom parades through both the City of Nottingham and Worksop. This is indeed an honour for our bandsmen to be booked by request of HM Armed Forces. It reflects our high standard, success and truly puts Mansfield on the map on the national stage! Not only does the Corps do their bit for the community, but it is also a place where members can meet socially. At present, we rehearse in Mansfield Woodhouse. In 2017, the Corps was granted Affiliated Unit Status to the Mansfield Branch of the Royal British Legion. This same year, we also received the honour of being awarded the Mansfield District Civic Crest to be included in our logo and cap badge. In 2022, Mayor Andy Abrahams awarded me and the Corps the 'Mayor's Outstanding Achievement Award' in recognition of our exemplary service to Mansfield District over the past decade. Mansfield District Corps of Drums is currently recruiting for all instruments, so please get in touch today!

Derbyshire Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums

The Derbyshire Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums is a youth organization dedicated to offering free music lessons to cadets aged 12 to 18 within our community. We aim to foster musical talent and personal development through disciplined training and performance opportunities.

Our program provides comprehensive instruction in drumming and other musical instruments, teaching cadets essential skills such as rhythm, coordination, and teamwork. We believe that music education enhances cognitive abilities, boosts self-esteem, and instills a sense of accomplishment.

The Corps of Drums not only performs at ceremonial events and parades but also engages in community outreach, showcasing the cadets' talents and dedication. By joining us, young individuals gain valuable life skills, build lasting friendships, and contribute positively to our community.
