David Attenborough
The Newton Toddler group's float celebrates 100 years of Sir David Attenborough, featuring little explorers trekking through the wilderness to honour the legendary naturalist and broadcaster. Our float shows the journey through jungle and oceans, discovering the wonders of the natural world just like their hero! With binoculars in hand and curiosity in their hearts, these tiny trailblazers are ready to inspire the next generation of wildlife enthusiasts.

World Cup
The Parish Social Events (PSE) group is proud to present its World Cup-themed float for this year’s carnival. Bursting with colour, energy, and community spirit, the float celebrates the excitement of football and the unity it brings across nations. Featuring flags, football decorations, and lively music, the PSE World Cup float captures the joy of the beautiful game while showcasing the enthusiasm and teamwork of the parish community. It’s a celebration of sport, friendship, and local pride.

Newton Primary School is excited to join this year’s carnival with a magical float inspired by Wicked. The float will bring to life the enchanting world of Oz, featuring vibrant green and black decorations, sparkling costumes, and characters that celebrate friendship, courage, and standing up for what’s right. Through their Wicked theme, the pupils aim to showcase creativity, teamwork, and the message that everyone has the power to make a difference — even when the world sees things differently.

Step back in time with a surge of Viking spirit. Our Viking themed float isn't just a spectacle - it’s an invasion of excitement, colour, and roaring Norse energy. Picture a towering longship rolling through the crowd, its carved dragon head prow cutting through the sunshine while “warriors” in furs and face paint beat their shields in rhythmic celebration. Kids will be wide eyed, adults will be grinning, and the whole fayre will feel electrified by the wild charm of the North. Whether you’re drawn by the myth, the adventure, or the sheer theatrical fun, this float promises to be the one everyone talks about long after the summer sun sets.

The Carnival Royalty Float stands as a magnificent symbol of unity, bringing together students from all three parish schools in a spectacular display of community pride. The king, queen, and their attendants ride with grace and dignity, proudly representing not only their individual schools but the entire parish as one. This cherished tradition showcases the best of our young people, who come together to celebrate our shared heritage and values. As the float makes its way through the streets, it reminds us all of the strength we find in unity and the bright future embodied by these exceptional young representatives.

Seaforth Highlanders
The Seaforth Highlanders Association (Nottinghamshire Branch) Pipes and Drums is a volunteer pipe band with roots stretching back to 1966, drawing its heritage from the historic 78th Regiment (Highland) Foot, raised in 1778 by the Earl of Seaforth.
For over 50 years, the Nottinghamshire Branch has kept this proud military tradition alive at the heart of the local community.
Based at The Verney Institute in Pleasley, Mansfield, the band rehearses every Thursday evening and performs at a wide range of events across the region, including Remembrance Day parades, Armed Forces Day celebrations, village carnivals, and charity fundraisers. The band is the officially recognised pipe band of the Royal British Legion Nottinghamshire and holds both the MOD Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award and signatory status of the Armed Forces Covenant.
The band is open to all, offering free tuition in piping and drumming regardless of age or experience. Its membership spans from young beginners to long-serving veterans, providing a structured, supportive environment that promotes camaraderie, personal development, and mental well-being. A registered charity (No. 1200604), the Seaforth Highlanders Notts Branch is a living legacy of military heritage and community service.

Mansfield District Corps of Drums
Mansfield District Corps of Drums was formed in 2012 with the aim of providing Nottinghamshire with a military marching band for military, civic and ceremonial events. Today, the Corps has more than tripled in size and has gained a prestigious reputation both locally and nationally. In 2017, the Corps was granted Affiliated Unit status with the Royal British Legion. Through this role, the band provides invaluable cost-free extracurricular music opportunities to people of all ages, including civilians, cadets, veterans, members of the emergency services and serving members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces. We have a strong membership from the disadvantaged in our community and provide opportunities for those with Special Educational Needs. The Corps fosters a safe space for its members, many of whom are from a military background to both socialise and access the musical arts. It also allows diverse members of the community from various backgrounds and age groups to come together for a common cause. This has included leading The Mercian Regiment in parades throughout Nottinghamshire for their Freedom of the City of Nottingham, Worksop and Newark parades. Also, the Corps has paraded for RAF Cranwell’s annual Battle of Britain Parade in Newark. Each year, the Corps also takes the lead in many Remembrance parades and Armed Forces Day events throughout the nation, including annually for veteran associations at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, plus internationally in France and Belgium for military commemoration events. At present, Mansfield District Corps of Drums headquarters is located at Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. In 2017, the Corps received the honour of being bestowed with the Mansfield District Civic Coat of Arms by unanimous vote of the Council, which today proudly forms the centrepiece to the band’s cap badge and standard. In 2022, the Mayor of Mansfield presented Mansfield District Corps of Drums with the 'Mayor's Outstanding Achievement Award' in recognition of exemplary service to Mansfield and Nottinghamshire over the past decade. The Corps today is proudly led by its Bandmaster and founding member, Bandmaster Ryan Clarke BEM, who was recently awarded a British Empire Medal by His Majesty King Charles III for “Services to the community in Nottinghamshire”, in the King’s Birthday Honours List of 2025.

Derbyshire Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums
The Derbyshire Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums is a youth organization dedicated to offering free music lessons to cadets aged 12 – 18 within our community. We aim to foster musical talent and personal development through disciplined training and performance opportunities.
Our program provides comprehensive instruction in drumming and other musical instruments, teaching cadets essential skills such as rhythm, coordination, and teamwork. We believe that music education enhances cognitive abilities, boosts self-esteem, and instils a sense of accompolishment.
The Corps of Drums not only performs at ceremonial events and parades but also engages in community outreach, showcasing the cadets' talents and dedication. By joining us, young individuals gain valuable life skills, build lasting friendships, and contribute positively to our community.
Dream Makers Performing Arts
Dream Makers Performing Arts is a welcoming and inclusive performing arts school where children and young people can build confidence, develop new skills, make lifelong friendships and discover their potential through dance, singing and acting.
Founded with the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to shine, Dream Makers provides a supportive environment where students are encouraged to grow both on and off the stage. From weekly classes and community performances to productions, festivals and local events, we are passionate about helping our students create memories, achieve their goals and, most importantly, enjoy every step of their journey.
This year we are proud to be taking part in the carnival and showcasing the incredible talent, enthusiasm and team spirit of our Dream Makers family.
